UKIP fully support the campaign to oppose the Third Runway, but want to keep the airport open as a 2 runway hub supporting jobs for the local community.

  • Breaking News: A blockade of Heathrow’s road access tunnel to Terminals 2 and 3 brought traffic to a halt for almost half an hour this lunchtime. Neil Keveren, a Harmondsworth resident, used his large white builder’s van to block both lanes to incoming traffic. He then unfurled a large banner on the side of his vehicle to face the stationary traffic saying “Residents Against Expansion”.Neil then climbed onto the roof of the vehicle and shouted, “No Third Runway” until police arrived and negotiated with him to come down.

Neil Keveren, who has a long family history in the area, decided to take personal direct action after yesterday’s announcement that Sir Howard Davies has recommended Heathrow for a third runway. This large extension to the airport will initially involve the demolition of approximately 1,000 homes, including most of Harmondsworth and all of Longford. Ultimately, Heathrow has recognised that it may need to purchase 3,750 homes that will be severely affected by noise and pollution.

The Davies Commission Publishes Tomorrow
Dear Supporter,

Thank you for your continued support for our campaign against further expansion at Heathrow.  As you will probably know by now, the Airports Commission recommendation for the site of a new runway in the South East will be made at 7am tomorrow morning.  From 5.30am journalists will be allowed sight of the final report but because of the sensitive nature of its content they will not be allowed to reveal the recommendation in advance.  Therefore, we expect to be in the same position as you, regarding whether Heathrow is the favoured option, until 7am.

Most of our committee and many residents will be involved in media interviews throughout the day.  We have arranged interviews with everyone from BBC Radio London, Breakfast TV shows, Sky TV, Radio 5 Live, Radio 4 Today programme, Channel 5 News and Channel 4 News with Jon Snow to name just a few.

Whatever the recommendation, remember that this does not bind the government to follow the results of the Commission’s report.  Our case is extremely strong and we do not believe that a third runway or extension to the existing northern runway are deliverable options. Therefore, if Sir Howard Davies recommends Heathrow for expansion, we will step up our opposition.  If the decision is for Gatwick, we remain determined to ensure that Heathrow is not considered by the government and that our future is protected from further threat.  The people of London and the surrounding areas impacted by its noise and pollution deserve a break.

Thank you again for your valued support.  We will contact you again soon, in the meantime keep an eye on our website: Keveren and the Stop Heathrow

Kind regards

The SHE committee

Launch of Stop Heathrow Expansion (S.H.E)

In response to the high profile and Heathrow Airport funded Back Heathrow campaign, local residents have joined together to launch a counter movement opposed to a 3rd Runway.

SHE Launch eventSHE is a non-aligned grassroots movement for all opposed to the devastation that is proposed in the south of our borough and beyond. UKIP Hillingdon support the aims of the group, and would recommend all worried about how Heathrow expansion would affect them to attend this Thursday
