UKIP fully support the campaign to oppose the Third Runway, but want to keep the airport open as a 2 runway hub supporting jobs for the local community.

- Breaking News: A blockade of Heathrow’s road access tunnel to Terminals 2 and 3 brought traffic to a halt for almost half an hour this lunchtime. Neil Keveren, a Harmondsworth resident, used his large white builder’s van to block both lanes to incoming traffic. He then unfurled a large banner on the side of his vehicle to face the stationary traffic saying “Residents Against Expansion”.Neil then climbed onto the roof of the vehicle and shouted, “No Third Runway” until police arrived and negotiated with him to come down.
Neil Keveren, who has a long family history in the area, decided to take personal direct action after yesterday’s announcement that Sir Howard Davies has recommended Heathrow for a third runway. This large extension to the airport will initially involve the demolition of approximately 1,000 homes, including most of Harmondsworth and all of Longford. Ultimately, Heathrow has recognised that it may need to purchase 3,750 homes that will be severely affected by noise and pollution.

Your chance to put your view to The Airports Commission

The Commission is now inviting further comments on its analysis of air pollution – opened the day after the election (rather a busy news day!) and will close at midday on Friday May 29.

Our thanks to Independent campaign group SHE (Stop Heathrow Expansion) for passing on this information.
Why The Third runway must be opposed
Petition to be handed in to 10 Downing Street
To mark the end of the public consultation by Sir Howard Davies; MPs from affected boroughs, national and local campaign groups including S.H.E., will be handing in a letter to Downing Street urging David Cameron to keep to his no ifs no buts no third runway pre-election pledge from 2009.
S.H.E., plus other local groups are marking the occasion with a public protest outside Downing Street at the same time and you’re invited.
Our friends at Stop Heathrow Expansion (SHE) have asked us to pass along dates for the local exhibitions from Heathrow Hub Ltd, one of the two options on the table for a 3rd runway at Heathrow. We are happy to oblige (Below)
In response to the high profile and Heathrow Airport funded Back Heathrow campaign, local residents have joined together to launch a counter movement opposed to a 3rd Runway.
SHE is a non-aligned grassroots movement for all opposed to the devastation that is proposed in the south of our borough and beyond. UKIP Hillingdon support the aims of the group, and would recommend all worried about how Heathrow expansion would affect them to attend this Thursday
